Hi, my name is Sophia Kapchinsky and I am a fourth year student at York University. I am currently studying Kinesiology and Health Sciences as a major, Psychology as a minor, and am taking part in the Fitness Assessment and Exercise Counseling Certificate Stream. During the summer I worked in a health research lab led by Dr Hood, where I looked at the affects of exercise and denervation on mitochondria in young and aged animals. I am excited about the opportunity to work with Dr Hawke and his team to examine the molecular mechanisms underlying the adaptive capacity of Weddell Seals. I am also looking forward to answering your questions and providing you with some exciting new data during my tenure in the lab! |
